Trivia 2000 Version 2.2 Released Posted by Ian_Highlander on Tuesday, May 2 2006
Further to previous updates recently, I'm on a bit of a roll with this script recently so here comes the next update.
This is primarily a major code update to allow users that insist on using coloured text in chat rooms to be able to play the game, prior to this version you had to be using black text for the bot to pick up the commands/answers there is no new additional functionality in this version other than that although this is a fairly major re-write of some sections of the script.
There is however a couple of bug fixes in this new version, one in the hints system (previously a certain command issued at the wrong time would switch of hints completely until the game was restarted when it wasnt meant to) and one that only affects users trying to run Wordgame by Murf at the same time.
Because of the coloured text playability function, this script now requires at LEAST version 1.6.17 of eggdrop to run as the code for this ability was only added in that version. There is new version checking code in the script that will disable the script completely and warn the owner in the partyline if a version lower than this is found. It will also give a public warning if any commands are attempted to be used.
The new version of Trivia 2000 is available to download on the "My TCL Scripts" page of this site

Trivia 2000 Version 2.1 Released (Finally) Posted by Ian_Highlander on Sunday, January 29 2006
After a couple of small interim "Bugfix" releases in the last few months, I'm very pleased to announce the final release version of the next generation of "Trivia 2000" is now complete, tested and available for download. Version 2.1 has major changes from previously released versions (the last version release four years ago was 1.1 with 1.2.5 and 1.3 being released primarily as bugfixes with a few enhancements in July and August 2005). The full readme from the script can be seen HERE but to summarise a few of the changes.
The script now accepts multi worded answers The !score command now works There is a new hints function that is switched on or off with a new command The script will now give answers after un-answered questions, this can be switched on or off with a new command The script will now play single question rounds as it always did OR multiple question rounds The script will now announce how many questions are left in the round at each question, this can be switched on or off with a new command The script now has two colour schemes built in that the user can choose between and one of these is completely user configurable to change the colours
and LOTS LOTS more.

Coming soon (HONEST!!) Posted by Ian_Highlander on Wednesday, January 4 2006
Due to other commitments (I have a real life too believe it or not) I have had no spare time in the last couple of months and as a result the new release of Trivia 2000 is not QUITE finished. I am getting so many emails about it now its hard to reply to each one individually. I've been promising delivery very very soon and had said I would get it out by Xmas. This obviously hasnt happened. It is "ALMOST" ready and I aim to get this done as soon as I possibly can. Apologies to everyone who is waiting for this major update to the script and thanks for bearing with me.

Beta testing complete Posted by Ian_Highlander on Saturday, October 15 2005
After some further testing of the last beta release I am no longer looking for anyone to help test this. Many thanks to the people that have been diligently reporting in with issues and suggestions for the script. Version 2.0.5beta has now been withdrawn whilst I do some further enhancements and modifications to it. Expect a new release soon which will include a switchable hints system (its taken me a while), colour coded questions, hints and answers (a feature that I didnt think of but is apparently very very popular) and if I can get it working right a switchable user hostmask system to allow for different types of hostmasks supported on different servers.

NEW TRIVIA 2000 VERSION 2 BETA TESTERS WANTED Posted by Ian_Highlander on Tuesday, August 16 2005
The first "fully working" (in theory) beta of the next generation of Trivia 2000 is pretty much done and I'm looking for anyone out there that either uses an older version currently and would like to upgrade or would just be happy to help test the new version and report back if they find any bugs, inconsistencies or general problems with it. I know there are a lot of people out there using it by the number of emails I get but dont want to release a potentially slightly buggy script. (I dont think it is, but I'd rather thoroughly test it before releasing it to be sure).
The new version has a lot of functionality that I get emails requesting all the time and is the next step towards where I want Trivia 2000 to end up finally.
New in Version 2.0.5.beta Multi word answers can now be used in the question files and are accepted correctly by the bot. !start command enhanced to accept the number of questions required in this round, maximum number to allow is configured at the top of the script (default 25). The new command format is !start ** i.e !start 10 will start a ten question round. The !start command still works the same as always. New option to announce the number of questions left in the round before each question by default. New public command !announce on/off to switch on or off the above function. New option to display the answers if nobody gets the question right after each question. New public command !answers on/off to switch on or off the above function. New function that notifies users when the round has finished. Bug Fix: !stop command now stops the game timers correctly and the game wont respond to a correct answer after the !stop command is issued. (I hadn't realised it was even doing it before). Bug Fix: !game off command now cant be used while a round is in progress, !stop command must be issued first to stop the game as it also wasnt stopping the timers correctly.
You should already have an eggdrop running in an active room and be able to provide me with the server and channel details where its running so I can join the room and watch the script under pressure as well as try and resolve any issues there and then.
Anyone interested in testing this and who is happy to provide reports of how its behaving and any issues they have with it should email me using the link in the main menu and I'll get back to you.

New Release of Trivia 2000 now online ! Posted by Ian_Highlander on Sunday, July 31 2005
New Release of Trivia 2000 now online !score command working, various improvements and enhancements, see My TCL Scripts page for details. I have just re-started work on a new major version which will hopefully have the enhancements in it that where promised four years ago before my "retirement" from the world of IRC and Eggdrops. My interest has been rekindled and I have started work on my scripts again and time allowing may bring this website up to date again and start work on a new Xtools, it all depends if I remain interested or if this is just a brief awakening :o)
